FCC Hearing, Hollow Earth Radio to do on-air testimony workshop

Filed under: News — Garrett Kelly @ 4:00 pm

The Federal Communications Commission is again attempting to rewrite America’s media ownership rules. Potentially, companies could be allowed to own more TV and radio stations, giving us more commercialism, less independent journalism and music, and fewer diverse voices on the air.

The FCC will hold a public hearing on the issue at Town Hall Seattle (1119 Eighth Avenue) on Friday, November 9th, from 4-11 pm, giving you an opportunity to voice your opinion. We are holding an on-air workshop tonight at Hollow Earth Radio to help people prepare to testify during this public hearing. Nathan James, Campaign Coordinator for the Media and Democracy Coalition, will lead this workshop. Even if you don’t testify, you will also learn more about what is going on with these upcoming decisions and participate in a discussion about this hearing. Those attending, arrive at 7pm. Those listening to this on-air workshop, tune in at 7:30pm PST Thursday, tonight.
