Day Seven- Sacramento, CA

We are in Sacramento at The Tangent Gallery
Played: Super Cute
Other bands: Amazing
The Heather Show, Ash Reiter, Dead Western

met: Some pretty girls with pretty voices
Ate at Mr. Chicken and the Coffee Garden

me: That morning was our last morning in San Fransisco. We went to eat at a Columbian place that Jim wanted to go to in the Mission called Senior Pollo. It was mainly chicken dishes. I had salad and fried bananas. They had really good fruit shakes as well. We went souvenir shopping for a while and then we went back to the house and loaded up all of our stuff. We went to Golden Gate Park where we met Hailey for her lunch break.

We drove downtown and stopped in China Town for THE BEST BUBBLE TEA I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. They used real taro in mine. I also bought some cute stripey socks from a woman who convinced me to buy two pairs instead of one. We left San Fransisco only hours before the bay bridge was closing- gasp! Then we headed on to Sacramento.

It was much warmer in Sacramento. We stopped at this place called the Tangent gallery which is sort of connected to a coffee shop called The Coffee Garden. After we met Heather at the gallery, Josh and I went to the Coffee Garden for sandwiches. We sat outside while this guy performed for only us. When we finished our sandwiches we went back to the gallery and watched Ash Reiter perform. Sadly, we missed The Heather Show and Dead Western. I heard that they were both amazing. We played a semi-acoustic set with me sitting on the floor. There was a couch made of stuffed animals that the audience sat on- cute!

After that, we went back to one of the girl’s parent’s houses. The three girls sang to us for a while. They had pretty voices. I felt so tired and sore and there was a hot tub and pool in the back- so…..
I thought that other people would come out, but no one did for a while. I sat in the hot tub by myself until finally Josh came out. We swam and relaxed for hours under the full moon. There were crickets in the bushes around us chirping. It was so beautiful. We couldn’t leave until we were too tired to stay any longer. I think we were out there for at least four hours. We then made a little bed out of blankets and towels in the office and went to sleep.

Day Six- Davis, CA

We are in Davis at the campus radio station
Played: Pretty Good
Other bands: N/A

met: Amber
Ate at IHOP

me: This picture is actually from the day before at Simple Pleasures. I had forgotten that the night before I was way too tired to drive home from Berkeley and so Josh drove back to San Fran. We couldn’t find parking that night so we had to park in a spot where the car had to be moved in the morning. So, Josh got up around 5:30am to move the car to a better spot. He is the best! He went back to sleep when he came back and Jim and I practiced for the radio show a little bit. The power adapter for my keyboard was obviously going out, which was some sad news.

Josh and I went to meet my friend Amber for brunch that day. It was great to see her. Unfortunately, we only had a very short time with her because she could only meet us during her lunch break.

After that Josh and I went down to the beach where it didn’t seem too warm, but the sand was too hot to handle. Down by the water it was better and we buried each other in the warm sand. We ended up getting sand everywhere. I still have sand in my cell phone.

We then went to Radio Shack where I had to get a power adapter. When we got back to house we showered and then got ready for our Davis adventure.

After stopping for a quick meal at IHOP, we went to U C of Davis. We used a secret code to pass through a gate and then unloaded our stuff. Josh and I went to park the car and on our way out of the gate we were stopped by this super gruff police officer. He was all mad that I went past the gate without a pass and really grilled us. It was actually kind of too much and Josh and I sassed him a little- on accident. But then we calmed down and he finally let us go after checking my insurance, ID, and registration. He also lectured us for a while on the purpose of gates. After that, Josh rescued me from a creepy guy that was sitting in the bushes. It seems as if he is always rescuing me from something.

The show was interesting. They weren’t interviewing us or anything. It was just an hour of us in the studio that we had to fill all ourselves. It turned into Jim interviewing me. We filled the hour though. We then went back to Hailey’s place for one last night in San Fran.

We were looking through our hollow earth radio web statistics, and checked out what google search strings people were using to locate our site. There seems to be a pattern here …

Day Five- San Fransisco

We are in San Fransisco at Simple Pleasures Coffee Shop
Played: Good
Other bands: Good
Some girl singer/songwriter
met: Ross, and some other people
Drank some Hoegarten- yum!
ate good food.

me: I got up in the morning and met with Josh while Jim went to meet Joseph at the Bart station. We went down Mission St. to find some fresh breakfast, but Josh didn’t want Mexican food. We ended up getting Chinese. On our way back we found all these great restaurants that we wanted to try, but we were full. We stopped to get juice smoothies and ran into Jim and Joseph. We then met up with my friend Ross and hung out and went shopping with him all day.
We came back to the house and loaded up the car and went down to Simple Pleasures. Some of the Blank Tapes guys and some other of Jim’s friends were there. Hailey biked down and was so tired that she stopped making sense at one point. They had good sandwiches and beer and the guys working there really liked us.
We unloaded the stuff and then took Ross home in Berkeley. I was so tired that I could barely focus as I was driving.

Webelos Tour- Day Four

Webelos @ Mama Buzz

Day Four- Oakland, CA
We are at a coffee shop called Mama Buzz.
Played: Pretty Good
Other bands: Super
Blank Tapes

met: Hailey, Sandy, Joseph, a bunch of Jim’s friends
Drank some good beer.
Ate pizza from across the street after looking up and down four blocks for food-then found out there there was great food at Mama Buzz that we missed out on.
Traffic was easy.
Car driving like a dream- like riding on a cloud, cloud 9 that is!

me: I believe that this was our longest driving day as far as on the way down goes. We woke up in Redding in the morning and I gave Josh a little birthday pressie. We made coffee from the Wandering Goat stash that we got. They gave us a single cup coffee maker thing with filters and we used the hot water from the hotel lobby. The coffee was so-so but it was fun to make. Jim and Josh practiced how to do the parts without Tim for a while in the hotel room.
We stopped at a store to get necessities before getting on the highway. That’s where I bought the shirt that I have on in this picture. In the car we learned the horrible truth about the spraying coffee mugs. We stopped to get food at this cute little diner on the way. Then we drove down to Oakland.
Mama Buzz was cute and nice. Joseph bought Josh a t-shirt for his birthday that he’s wearing in the picture. If you look closely you can see that he’s playing drums with the wrenches from my car’s toolbox. We left the drumsticks at the last show again!
We met with Hailey and followed her friend’s directions to her house. They exit was incorrect and we ended up on the way to San Jose. We got off the highway at this strange body of water and we saw what I thought was a dingo and Jim thought was an alien fox.
We turned back and finally made it to Hailey’s in the mission district. Josh went to meet up with an old friend and Hailey and Jim and I went to the Phone Booth bar where we met up with Jim’s old friend from school.
