I mashed some eastern european/russsian folk acapellas with some slowed down dixie/rag, added some extra percussion, and came up with a tom waits/taraf de haidouks sounding track. or as one friend put it, “It sounds like Tom Waits on helium!” Any way, here are pictures of Pee-Wee and Fingers, The Finno-Ugrik and Turkik Folk music info book that came with the record, and the Glenfiddich can that I added contact mics to, and ran through an amp for the back beat, and the bass hit is made from the piano sample slowed and chopped.
If anyone has any ideas what to call this, let me know, for now it’s untitled…..
Chocolate Chuck is a local DJ, who uses unconvetional sources like children records and other strange things in his compositions. His debut “The Goodnight EP” is truly enjoyable and funny, all about bed time etc., and is available for free download here.
here’s one of my favorites:
We also have some new cuts of our own as well as some other new stuff we found.

Today brings the third installment of the Murder Mountain remote dispatches, and the Corner Pocket Local Music Program will be broadcasting LIVE from Bellingham from the top of Murder Mountain Studios! Our musical guests are Bellinghams Ergo Ego!
Tune in online at www.hollowearthradio.com from 5-7pm today for two hours of local NWxNW music and a live performance from Ergo Ego!
Ergo Ego have a very distinct sound: it is dark, moody, brooming and patient indie rock, channeling the earthy bog corners of Whatcom County and the urban gasoline alley puddles of downtown Bellingham. it is fairly dynamic with pretty strums and bright picks plastered next to blaring distorted riffs and drags. personally, it kind of reminds me of northwest 90’s fav’s Lync meet northwest 90’s fav’s Red Stars Theory. add in a bit of mid 90’s Bellingham The Lighthouse Mission and Two if By Sea*, for a very Whatcom taste. almost feels like hanging out at the Showoff Gallery on a wet spring evening!

We’re moving to a new location today in Wallingford (Goodbye, Phinney Ridge!) - so, the radio is going to be spotty most of the day. Hopefully we’ll have things up and running again by this afternoon/evening. We look forward to this change and we’ll have pictures up soon of our new space (Note: we’re no longer going to be a basement radio, we’ve moved to higher ground and are taking over an attic!)
